Walk in the footsteps of Christ
Pilgrimage to the Holy Land is not a vacation. It's a journey of faith — to the places where our salvation was won, and to the communities that your generosity sustains every day.
Why we go
Every Knight and Dame is expected to make at least one pilgrimage to the Holy Land during their time in the Order. It's not a requirement that can be fulfilled by reading about it or watching a video. The Holy Land must be experienced — walked, prayed in, wept over.
When you visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, celebrate Mass in Bethlehem, or stand on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, something shifts. The charities you fund become faces. The schools become classrooms full of children who know your name. The abstract idea of "sustaining the Christian presence" becomes a lived reality you carry with you for the rest of your life.
2026 Pilgrimage — Cancelled
Due to ongoing conditions in the region, the 2026 Holy Land pilgrimage has been cancelled. We continue to monitor the situation and pray for peace.
2027 Pilgrimage — To be announced
Planning for the 2027 pilgrimage is pending. Contact our Pilgrim Master to be notified when details are available.
The Pilgrim Shell
Members who complete a pilgrimage to the Holy Land receive the Pilgrim Shell — a scallop shell affixed to the mantle, and one of the most meaningful distinctions in the Order. It's conferred by the Lieutenant at the Annual Meeting following your pilgrimage, and it marks you as someone who has seen firsthand the land and people we serve.
What to expect on pilgrimage
A typical pilgrimage lasts 10 to 14 days and weaves together sacred sites, charitable visits, and fellowship.
Jerusalem
The Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Via Dolorosa, the Western Wall, the Mount of Olives. You walk where He walked.
Bethlehem
The Church of the Nativity — and a visit to Bethlehem University and Caritas Baby Hospital, where you see your donations at work.
Galilee
The Sea of Galilee, Nazareth, Capernaum, Mount Tabor. The landscapes of Jesus's ministry, largely unchanged.
Liturgy & fellowship
Daily Mass at historic churches, group prayer, evening reflections, and shared meals with local Christians.
Charitable visits
You meet the students, patients, elders, and teachers the Order supports. You see your impact with your own eyes.
Past pilgrimages
"Until you walk the streets of Jerusalem and hold a baby at Caritas, you don't truly understand what this Order exists to protect. The pilgrimage changed everything for me."
